Think Big Act Small

Oct 17, 2019

In this episode we have the unique opportunity to learn from an emerging leader in the early stages of their leadership journey.

Xavier Duursma is a professional footballer in the Australian Football League (AFL), arguably Australia's most elite sporting competition.

In late 2018 Xavier left home in Foster (a small Victorian town of about 1,000 people) to move interstate and join the big time as a professional athlete.

In the interview, Xavier shares his learnings of going from a senior leader at his junior club to being one of the most junior members of his AFL team, and how he was able to lead in his own authentic way despite not being one of the appointed leaders of the team.

Xavier also shares his learning on how to stay focussed and accept the ever-changing parts of his workplace that he can't control.

Enjoy :)
